Front Desk Job Description

The front desk is the first impression of the practice as a whole and a good impression is of the utmost importance. The front desk also touches every single person’s job throughout the practice. Their accuracy and timeliness is essential for the practice to run smoothly. Below is a list of functions and tasks that the front desk is responsible for but is also not limited only to these things:

· Checking patients in and out

· Explaining benefits to patients

· Collecting co-pays, co-insurance, deductible and/or outstanding balances

· Inputting and checking demographic information

· Making copies

· Scheduling follow-up appointments

· Answering calls

· Making charts

· Greeting patients as they come in

· Maintain lobby

· Filing Charts

· Filing paperwork

· Daily balancing of payments

· Organization

· Multitasking

· Effective communication throughout the office

· Good time management

· Confirming Appointments
